IAF, RAIN HOSTS 2016 FAME COMPETITION

The Impact Africa Foundation in conjunction with the Reformed Ambassadors International Network (RAIN) on Saturday, 20th February 2016 organized the Future Accountants, Managers and Entrepreneurs (FAME) competition at the Our Lady of Apostles School, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

The FAME competition, commenced in the year 2011 but this is the first year it was exclusively for public secondary schools. The aim of the competition is to source the best talents in selected public schools across states in Nigeria and support their education in their chosen career path especially in Accounting, Management and Entrepreneurship.

The event hosted ten (10) public secondary schools across Ogun State with two representatives from each school tested on accounting, commerce and economics subjects. It was a fun filled and educational event and was led by the President of the Reformed Ambassadors International Network, Mr. Adewale.

The Impact Africa Foundation was well represented by the President of the Foundation, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele and accompanied by the executive staff of the Foundation, Miss Ibukun Ayorinde. It was indeed not just an educational event, but an interactive one filled with various activities engaging all students at the event. The IAF President, gave a speech encouraging the students to embark and focus on well-defined career paths.

Ikenne Community High School emerged winner of the competition, followed by AGSS as the second and the Mayflower School Ikenne came third. They were all awarded medals, trophies and prizes for their success. Other participating schools also received consolation prizes.

As contained in our constitution, the aims and objectives of the Foundation derived from its three pillars of Education, Mentoring and Advocacy are:

  1. to support the education of less privileged children in the society by providing financial assistance and scholarships to help them through elementary to tertiary education;
  2. to promote education and knowledge among the youths in particular and the general public;
  3. to provide mentoring to youths in different areas including choice of discipline, vocation, career development, entrepreneurship, life issues and so on;
  4. to help train people in social skills, business and financial skills, soft skills and other areas that will impact positively on the society;
  5. to serve as a platform for advocacy in the areas of public policy, social justice, equality, fair taxation, accountability and good governance; and
  6. to apply contributions, donations, gifts and grants received by it to charitable projects in the three core areas of focus.
